Advanced Curtain Techniques

COURSE CONTENT

This one-day workshop is suitable for students who have already attended the professional curtains workshop, and for those who can already sew fairly competently but wish to make high quality bespoke curtains to a professional standard.

It is recommended that you have already attended the Professional Curtains workshop before enrolling for Advanced techniques.

This workshop takes a more in-depth look at the construction of an interlined, lined curtain with handmade headings.

Calculating pleats and spaces on plain and patterned fabrics, with particular attention to "pleating to pattern". Creating hand sewn goblets and hand sewn French (pinch) pleats with buckram heading.

Looking at some of the more elaborate curtain styles including puffball, eyelet and flopover headings, adding contrast borders and inset and applied trims.

Project

Each student will create a sample lined, interlined, contrast edged hand headed curtain to take home. All materials are provided and you will be able to choose from a wide selection of fabrics.
